Very good food and very nice host!

Cozy, familiar and warm. Gladly again.

Reserved with 20 people, but the waitress was visibly annoyed by this "rush" ... Also otherwise very unfriendly and you had the feeling that you were simply not welcome. Food cheap but also mediocre.

In the beginning there was a breakdown, which we had to answer for ourselves: we had booked seats for 20 people, but it turned out that it was 30 then. This is of course fierce for a relatively small restaurant like the Kernbergschänke - especially if it is ordered à la carte. However, the staff managed to accommodate us all, remained warm and kind and understandably asked for some patience. The waiting time did not seem to me that long, but the restaurant in a former barn is also very cozy, wooden beams and all kinds of antique equipment create a homely atmosphere and you just feel good. I had a roulade with red cabbage and dumplings - beautifully seasoned, everything was fine and really tasty "like nuts". The meals of the other guests were lovingly prepared and the reactions were very positive. Kudos to the kitchen and the service - that was a real test and you have absolutely passed. Next time - promised - I will come back with a smaller group, but love to return.

Nice ambience, nice service, tasty home cooking. And you can also play billiards if you have logged in or you happen to have one of the three tables free ... 🙂

We wanted to celebrate a birthday with delicious food and billiards and had reservations. The service was underground. After 30 minutes came the menu, the first drinks after one hour, the food after 2 hours! The fried potatoes were black, everything from the deep fryer .... Afterwards discussions to the previously reserved pool table, which was apparently awarded several times. The worst restaurant for 20 years!

Days ago a table ordered for nine people on arrival was unfortunately only room for seven. Can happen The statement from the service either you take that or leave us speechless. But we have accepted the offer and are now sitting where we are welcome. I will not appear here anymore

Probably the best drinks prices in the center of Jena. Comfortably furnished, not crowded and with the possibility to play cheap billiards. We are sure to come back more than once :)

Food (the worst "Soljanka", which I ever had, consisted of old Chilli con Carne, Vienna sausages and ketchup) was unfortunately extremely bad (on 28/07/2018 at 21:45, just before kitchen). Operation also overwhelmed and relatively rude. Sorry, that was unfortunately so.

Wanted to have lunch on Sunday. No chance, we are closing now. 45 minutes before the closing time. Not even coffee left.

Very cozy and good atmosphere. Food seems to be good. What bothered me is that you have to run to the waitress for every beer. A good waitress sees when the glass is empty and asks whether you still want something or something at all. If that changes there will be five stars.

The best place to go to play billiards in Jena. Three tables, two small and one large. It is advisable to make a reservation. The kitchen is very good and affordable. I can't recommend the draft beer, but there are enough bottled beers.

Location: it's on the other side of the river but not too far. . . . Easily accessible by tram and bus. Ambience: it's old.school with wooden cieleings and floor and interiors. We saw three pool.tables in the front part and a dart board. Of course we went on a Tuesday so it was not at all.crowded and we easily got a table to ourselves and a dart board. Service : you pay at the end and can order at the bar directly. I didn't have dinner but the people said that it was nice. Drinks are cheap. Especially the beer. And also the shots Definitely recommend for a Stammtisch or a group thing. Can't advise about weekend crowd though
